Honest Review:
I love this band especially their older music. Their songs are deeply connected to certain times in my life.

When it comes to Western artists, I tend to prefer male singers. They’re less likely to sing in that “cursive” style or change their natural speaking voice like some female singers do. That said, I honestly think Overexposed is one of the best pop albums- everything on it is great and listenable. "Walang tapon", as we say in Filipino which means “no skips.”

Back when I was still living in the Philippines, my siblings, cousins and I had a tradition every Christmas and New Year. We’d gather, set up our instruments and jam until midnight- and Maroon 5 was always on the setlist. Their music is easy to play and very singable.

If I had to choose a fave song by them, I honestly couldn’t pick just one! Some tracks remind me of specific times, people or moments in my life. They’re just that meaningful.

I also remember my first time traveling outside the country- going to Hong Kong with my cousins. V had just been released a few days earlier and it was the only album on my walkman during the flight. A lot of good memories in my life are attached to their music so I was incredibly excited (!!) to finally see them live. And I was not disappointed!

I’ve always preferred live bands over computer-generated music because live performances can really shift the mood. There’s an emotional transfer from the performers to the audience. I also appreciated how they made smooth transitions between songs- it wasn’t just fade-outs or awkward pauses. The setlist was excellent and loved that they performed all their iconic older songs.

Adam Levine is & still a great frontman. He goes a flat sometimes but he pushes through and sings with emotion. He doesn’t do anything over the top- he just sings and dances. There were no long breaks between songs; he sang non-stop for two hours. Unlike some artists who rely too much on backing tracks or let the crowd do most of the singing, Adam actually performs. Also, they had a surprise guest- Wiz Khalifa. I’m not a fan of his verse or of “Payphone” in general but surprise guests always get the crowd hyped!

I’ve been to concerts recently where the sound was so loud it shook my whole body or the mixing was just bad. But this time, everything was perfectly done- not too loud and well-balanced. I really appreciated that attention to detail.

This isn’t directly related to their performance but I was surprised by how big their Asian fanbase is. I swear like about 50% of the crowd were Filipinos and another 20% were other Asians. Haha.
Anyway, if you're a fan!! definitely a must-see!! :)
