@simpleplan opened for Avril to support her Greatest Hits tour. @girlfriendsxo was supposed to be the first opening act, however due to a thunderstorm in the area, their set was canceled. To be honest, my buddy Mike and I don’t know who Girlfriends are, but while I came to see Avril, Mike on the other hand, actually came see Simple Plan, and would have been pissed if they had to cancel their set as well, due the weather.

Unfortunately I had to edit out the two minute video montage, right before the first encore, to stay on the right side of copyright. ????

I want to dedicate this recording to my old high school friend, Katie Lagasse, and her husband Stephen. They wanted to go to Avril’s concert the following day at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, North Carolina, but due to unforeseen circumstances in their lives, they decided not to.

Over the last year, I’ve watched vicariously through her Facebook feed how much Katie has lovingly supported Stephen as he continues his recovery. There have been good days and bad, and even shitter ones in between. But it never ceases to amaze me how she takes each day in stride and how motivated she is to get through these difficult times with her family.

To Stephen, you are a very likely man, and you have a beautiful family and incredible wife. Semper Fi marine!
