In March 2025, EMEL played at Pioneer Works for the second time. The Tunisian-American artist first rose to global attention with “Kelmti Horra” (My Word Is Free), a defining anthem of the Arab Spring, later performed at the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. Since then, EMEL has carved out a singular sound—melding North African rhythms, electronica, and cinematic atmospheres across acclaimed albums like Ensen, Everywhere We Looked Was Burning, and most recently MRA.
