This video is produced to honour Ghirmay Solomon, one of the pioneers of modern Eritrean Music.
He popularised the musical instrument Oud in Eritrea when he began his musical career in the mid of 1950s. Ghirmay sung both in Arabic and Tigrigna, his work incorporated elements of Sudanese music that are beloved to this day. He also highly contributed to the Ethiopian music scenes of the 60s by his continues involvement in the works of Ethiopian popular artist of that time like Tilahun Gessese and Alemayehu Eshete.
