Hardly anyone embodies the antithesis of virtuoso swaggering as irresistibly as Bill Frisell. His art of saying a lot with just a few notes and opening up wide associative spaces with small means makes him unique and one of the style-defining guitarists of jazz. He will be bringing his musical collaborators from the album “Four” (2022) to the German Jazz Festival Frankfurt. “Without a bass, it was a bit scary at first,” says Frisell, describing the special line-up for the record, ”but it's never really about the instruments, it's about the chemistry between the musicians.”

Kaum einer verkörpert den Gegenentwurf zur virtuosen Kraftmeierei so unwiderstehlich wie Bill Frisell. Seine Kunst mit wenigen Tönen viel zu sagen und mit kleinen Mitteln weite Assoziationsräume zu öffnen, macht ihn einzigartig und zu einem der stilprägenden Gitarristen des Jazz. Zum Deutschen Jazzfestival Frankfurt bringt er seine musikalischen Mitstreiter des Albums “Four” (2022) mit. „Ohne Bass war anfangs etwas beängstigend“, beschreibt Frisell die besondere Besetzung der Platte, „aber es geht eigentlich nie um die Instrumente, sondern um die Chemie zwischen den Musikern.“
