A portion of the video was referenced in "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" [2023]. The video was also included in YouTube's documentary "Celebrating The Mario Community & 100 BILLION Views." He performed Super Mario Music in front of Shigeru Miyamoto and Koji Kondo.

Martin's classical piano playing can be heard in the Guillermo del Toro film "Nightmare Alley" [2021]. Martin performed piano concertos in the United States, Canada, and Germany. He received piano performance degrees from the University of Southern California (Doctor of Musical Arts), Yale School of Music (Master of Music), and the Cleveland Institute of Music (Bachelor of Music).

Martin has run 5 marathons with a personal best time of 2:56:48. He is a USCF Candidate Master with a peak chess rating of 2081
