The rumba flows through Jocelyn's veins like beer through the pipes of Kinshasa, the hectic capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Jocelyn and his fellow musicians take us on a journey to feverish Kinshasa from the 1940s to the 1970s, the golden age of Congolese rumba.
Singer, songwriter, composer and arranger Jocelyn Balu grew up in the prison district of Kinshasa. He started his career at the age of 6 as a soloist in a traditional Congolese gospel choir. Together with his band Borumba, he gives a contemporary interpretation to big hits, from Basi nionso tapale to the cult chorus Marie-Louise. He thus pays tribute to the pioneers of his youth.
