Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar | Live concert with CS Murugabhoopathy, 1960 | #CSM110

Vaak presents #CSM110, a tribute to the legendary mridangist CS Murugabhoopathy for his 110th birth anniversary. We commence the series with a rare concert of Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar from 1960. This concert is important for many reasons ; it is one of the two concert recordings of CSM accompanying Ariyakudi. Furthermore, this concert features many renditions that are not available in other recordings including a rare composition of Manambuchavadi Venkatasubbaiyya, a direct disciple of Tyagaraja, in the raga Kuthuhalam.

On his birth anniversary, 14th January, we will be presenting a compilation of various tracks from different concerts so as to highlight Murugabhoopathy's best moments on stage.

Through this initiative we aim to archive concerts by various artists and bring to our viewers the experience of listening to complete concerts. These concerts are carefully chosen from Vaak's archives and cleaned up for the best listening experience.

The purpose of this upload is to assist the students and the lifelong learners of India in their pursuit of an education so that they may better their status and their opportunities and to secure for themselves and for others justice, social, economic and political.
