Ilse DeLange, born Ilse Annoeska de Lange on May 13, 1977, in Almelo, is a prominent Dutch singer and the lead vocalist of The Common Linnets. She gained fame in 1998 with her hit "I'm Not So Tough" from the album "World of Hurt," which later achieved multi-platinum status. She continued to have success with hits like "Miracle," "So Incredible," and "The Great Escape."

DeLange, alongside Waylon, secured second place in the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. In 2019, she played a significant role as a mentor and director for Duncan Laurence, who won the Eurovision Song Contest with his song "Arcade."

Throughout her career, DeLange has received numerous accolades, including Edison Awards in 1998, 2001, 2004, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2020. Her albums have reached platinum status eighteen times. In 2023, she won the prestigious 'Jeff Walker Global Country Music Award' from the CMA Awards Organization for the second time.

Ilse DeLange grew up in a Reformed family in Almelo. As a teenager, she worked as a shoe saleswoman at the local branch of Schoenenreus. Her talent for singing eventually led her to leave this job in 1998 to pursue a professional singing career. She completed her education at a Christian MAVO followed by Middelbaar Middenstand Onderwijs (MMO).
