Spiritualized (stylized as Spiritualized®) is an English rock band formed in 1990 in Rugby, Warwickshire, by Jason Pierce (often known as J. Spaceman), formerly of Spacemen 3. After several line-up changes, the band concentrated in 1999 around Pierce (vocals, guitar), Doggen Foster (guitar) and Kevin Bales (drums and percussion) with alternating bassists and keyboardists. The band's current bassist, James Stelfox, has been playing with the band since 2012. Since 2023, Spiritualized has released nine studio albums. The most famous and acclaimed of these is 1997's Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, which was named their Album of the Year by NME magazine, beating out other critically acclaimed albums from fellow British bands like OK Computer by Radiohead and Urban Hymns by The Verve.
