System of a Down is an American heavy metal rock band from Hollywood, California. All four band members are of Armenian descent. System of a Down is best known for its rousing music style. The band's music usually relates to feelings and political and social events, such as the Armenian Genocide and the Iraq War. In addition to the standard instruments (electric guitars, bass and drums), the band uses instruments such as the piano, violin and mandolin.
